Casemiro, Mason Mount, and Bruno Fernandes outplayed Man Utd against Tottenham, while Scott McTominay was not utilised as a replacement despite the misfiring midfield. "Manchester United are the new Spurs," asserts Keane.
After Manchester United was denied a penalty in their 2-0 loss to Tottenham, Bruno Fernandes has demanded that the referees apologise to the team.
On Saturday night, United was dealt a sobering but well-earned defeat thanks to a second-half goal from Pape Sarr and an own goal by Lisandro Martinez.
Alejandro Garnacho's goal-bound effort hit defender Cristian Romero's outstretched arm in the first half, depriving United of a penalty. The event was examined using VAR, but because referee Michael Oliver signalled for play to resume, nothing was done.
In reference to last week's penalty incident at Old Trafford during United's victory over Wolves, where Gary O'Neil was given an apology by referees' chief Jon Moss for failing to award a spot-kick when Andre Onana collided with Sasa Kalajdzic, Fernandes, who missed a glorious opportunity from point-blank range in the game.
Last week, they made a great deal out of the fact that United didn't receive a penalty against the Wolves, according to Fernandes.
"I want to know if this week's events will follow the same pattern as last week's.
"I want to see if Jon Moss also stops by to apologise to our locker room, as they claim he did to the Wolves manager," added the player.
Conclusion of Keane's United: Desperate
According to Roy Keane of Sky Sports, United's performance was "desperate, absolutely desperate." "I always consider clubs and players that aren't capable of performing well away from home to be the biggest insults.
"United are leaving today...weak, lacking in leadership, and giving away terrible goals. Combating Man United is simple. The new Spurs are Manchester United.
The midfield seemed light, said Keane, sounding displeased. When you lose possession of the ball, the six players at the top of the pitch are doing nothing for you. You can always have one or two players on your squad who don't contribute much but can win you games, but United is carrying too many guys when they're not really playing well.
They appear to be schoolboys when I look at (Mason) Mount and Fernandes out of possession. They lack the physicality necessary to recover the ball.
We need to see for ourselves that Ten Hag is a great coach. They appeared dull. What are they doing on the practise pitch? I'm curious. Having too much training? They don't seem to have much energy.
Neville: Manchester United must improve in the middle of the pitch.
An anxious Gary Neville challenged Manchester United to add midfielders in the wake of their unsettling start to the new season during his match analysis.
After a relatively lucky 1-0 victory against Wolves on Monday Night Football, United's luck ran out in north London as a midfield consisting of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and summer acquisition Mount were outperformed by man-of-the-match Yves Bissouma and James Maddison in Spurs' deserving 2-0 victory.
Neville remarked, "Casemiro appears lost in midfield in these first two games. It is evident that Manchester United needs to strengthen their midfield.
"Ten Hag wants a number six who can play alongside Casemiro, but the club is currently unable to get players out in order to pay for that," the source said.
"If they consider the first two weeks, they must pay it or there would be significant issues. It is obvious that Ten Hag does not wish to return to Scott McTominay.
Mount was removed late in the game against Spurs after failing to make an impression on his debut against Wolves. Christian Eriksen had just come off the bench before to it, but his presence just made the midfield confusion worse.
Neville said, "With Bruno on the right, the midfield looks all over the place and the front three can't play as a one. Will he return to McTominay? Ten Hag has omitted him and employed five substitutes instead. It almost seems like he's trying to have him kicked out of the club.
Ten Hag comments: The midfield performed admirably.
The former Manchester United teammates were critical of the midfield, but manager Erik ten Hag appeared satisfied with how his men had played.
The midfield did well, he said Sky Sports. It was excellent. Of course, we may always improve, but you should aim high and allow some gaps.
"We were superior in the defence transition, but the two midfielders had nothing to do with it. The defensive pressure and arriving in three lanes to be compact from the far side and in the event of losing the ball, to return to position from your striker and No. 10 were more important factors.
When asked whether he had any additional worries about his offensive players, Ten Hag responded, "Not by the attacking play, but by scoring. We are aware that it is the same issue. That is the reason we acquired a striker.
Ten Hag was baffled as to why his squad did not receive a penalty for the Romero incident.
He stated, "I loved the first half, it was a really nice effort by Manchester United, but we need to score. We produced favourable circumstances. We had numerous opportunities to score, a strong offensive press, and we deserved a penalty.
"I don't see why there isn't a punishment. The hand is directly above as he alters the ball's path. It's OK however; you just have to accept it.
"The first alteration in the game is that we immediately receive three bookings, which is not allowed. We must maintain our concentration. unneeded reservations. We then turn off. They have two significant opportunities in one assault. That was terrible.
"The second half clearly didn't get off to a good start. You must continue to put yourself forward. That goal's surrender was completely unneeded.
We battled back, but we didn't score. We didn't crumble.
Bring Stapleton and Whiteside back, says Keane
While Neville's worries were centred on the midfield, Keane saved his most scathing criticism for United's ineffective frontline.
Marcus Rashford was substituted by Anthony Martial for the final few minutes, but United didn't improve following Fernandes' stunning first-half error.
"You might as well bring on Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside," stated Keane in reference to the addition of Martial. You won't be able to escape difficulty through martial arts.
"Rashford continued to play down the middle. the usual. He seems little from up there. He is clearly not pleased to be playing there. He doesn't appear to want to play through the middle, based on his body language and his initial touches.
"But you must. You must perform a task for the group. It's simple to play against the captain, experienced international players, and older players. The worst criticism I can level at these Manchester United players is that.
